Task 3 post 1

The short film I will be talking about is called Digits by Alexander Engel. Is it 7 minutes 42 seconds long and was made in 2015. This film is about a man who recently got a girl’s number but 2 of the digits are missing and he franticly tries to find the girl again by trying every possible combination. The themes within the film drive the films narrative. For example the theme of desperation is prominent throughout the whole film as the man desperately tries every combination to try and find the girl’s number. Another prominent theme is loneliness. The man is trying to overcome his loneliness and connect with this girl so they can be together. I liked this film and the way it was simple but still effective. For example there is only one location which is the man’s front room and only a handful of actors which mostly only have one line. But because the film has a simple narrative its works well just focusing on the man. The structure and style of this film is simple but effective just like the narrative. Showing a man trying different combinations of a number just to find a girl is simple and showed in a simple way which is just showing him ringing up each variations and him getting different answers saying they’re not Amy, the girl who he is looking for.
