Module Evaluation

Before I started this module I hadn’t done any experimental film making so having that opportunity at the start of the module was really helpful because it made me think different about what I was filming and how I could improve my work in all modules. Especially the task that made us record the sounds in a different location to the footage. It made me think outside the box about my other work and how the sound could be made by one thing but sound like a completely different thing. For example the different kind of atmosphere sound could be found at different locations. For these tasks sound has definitely been a major part of them and this module has helped me improve my skills. It has also helped me develop my initial ideas and how to get them from just ideas to finished films. The experimental side helped me with putting 2 ideas together that wouldn’t usually go together but seemed to work within this capacity. The documentary helped me interact with the public and use my film making skills to help get more media coverage of an organisation that otherwise would go fairly unknown. The documentary helped me become more organised because we could only film when they were open for a few hours twice a week. Also doing work for someone else was an eye opener because we could only film for a short time we didn’t have much room for mistake. If we messed something up or needed extra footage we didn’t have that infinite time to get it. The drama helped me shoot out in the public and get accustomed to what it’s like to film in the open. We knew what we wanted to film but we also had to be weary of the public and not to film anyone specifically and not to get in the publics way.  Overall this module has helped me improve my skills in all aspects of film making and thinking of different ways to create films.
